The Devil's Mess

The Devil’s Mess—a scrambled egg dish with spinach, local Schreiner’s chorizo, chiles and onions—is the way to go for a savory breakfast.

The scramble had a pleasantly mild heat while the chorizo gave just a touch of sweetness. However, because of the nature of the dish, each bite did taste very similar to the next. Other than this lack of contrasting flavors, the scramble was just as a scramble ought to be.

Nevertheless, having come to Phoenix Public Market Café many times before, I still have to recommend the lunch and dinner sandwiches, if only for the perfectly chewy bread.

Frittata

The frittata was loaded with fresh vegetables (including tomatoes and arugula), cheese and pesto sauce. The blend of flavors was highly satisfying, though the dish was a little large for my own taste. If you are prepared to eat a large meal that could fit a vegetarian diet, then the frittata is definitely a great option.

I also tried the prickly pear iced tea, which I highly recommend!

Steel Cut Oats Risotto

An excellent gluten free breakfast option, the steel cut oats risotto was an interesting mix of nuts and seeds with agave syrup and assorted fruits.  Unlike anything I've tried before, it is sweet and nutty and will likely fill you up.  â€‹

If you're looking for something other than eggs and toast for breakfast, I highly  recommend giving this dish a try.

Housemade Bagel

The housemade bagel with strawberry strawberry cream cheese was a refreshing twist on the traditional bagel and cream cheese breakfast. The bagel tasted almost like sourdough and the strawberry cream cheese had chunks of fruit.

I also had the coffee of the day with my breakfast. It was filling, fresh and delicious breakfast.
